when asked why i am planning to be a teacher i often say things like "i want to make a difference" or "i yearn for a job with meaning" when what i really should do, if i am being honest, which i rarely am, is quote Allen Ginsberg:
"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the streets at dawn looking for an angry fix.." (Howl).
this is what i believe to be true.
the best minds of my generation; all hungry, all searching, all eating themselves alive.
this is why.
but this is also why i should not be allowed to do it.
